Carmelite Monastery
87 St Charles Square
London
W10 6EA

The Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity was founded in 1878 from the Carmel at the Rue d'Enfer, Paris, which had the distinction of being the first French Carmel, founded by some of Saint Teresa's own associates.

Notting Hill Carmel, St Charles' Square

The simple yet spacious monastic building provides an environment of silence and solitude helpful to a lifetime quest for intimacy with God in prayer. The house stands in about four acres of garden, creating a still centre at the heart of the busy city of London. The throb of urban life around us keeps us ever identified with the needs, sufferings and hopes of the men and women of our time, which are gathered into our prayer and offered to God with our lives.

A woman wishing to explore a possible call to Carmelite life in our community will be asked to take part in a careful programme of discernment. After an initial interview, if it seems appropriate, she will be invited to spend a few days each month, for nine months, inside the enclosure, where she will be offered a brief experience of the lived reality of Carmel, as well as spiritual accompaniment and vocational guidance.
